I had so much fun with the New York Times Best 100 Books of the 21st Century list over the past week. Yes, we are not even a quarter of the way through this century, but lists are GREAT content, and I’m a sucker for them.

How was their list? It was pretentious, but cool too. Barely any popular series, no smut, not very trashy. By polling authors, critics, and luminaries, the list ended up being most apt for capital R readers—very literary—something to aspire to, not necessarily enjoy. This was, I remind you, the BEST books, not the biggest books.

So while it was a blast seeing the picks every morning, it was also a bit of a feel-bad exercise. There are too many amazing books and not enough time!

I love to read, often recommending books here at The Schmear Hunter, and I KNOW that many of my subscribers love to read too.

I reached out to my biggest bookworms for their Best Books of the 21st Century lists, and I was not disappointed by the results.
