In interviews, Zoë Kravitz likens her strange new thriller, Blink Twice (formerly known as Pussy Island), to a blend of The Garden of Eden and Lord of the Flies.

It’s tantalizing to cast a backward gaze when coming up with comparisons, but Blink Twice feels modern, for better and for worse. Substantively, the plot has more than a whiff of Jeffrey Epstein, paired with an avenging girl-boss power that feels very #MeToo.

Frida (Naomi Ackie) is a cater-waiter who finagles an invite to the private island of tech billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum), who has apologetically recused himself from proper society for some unnamed slight. On the island, she’s surrounded by a Tuluminati coterie.
